Italian Armed Forces Day: Three flash mobs to say NO to WAR!November 4th is Armed Forces Day in Italy. So together with a few Italian peace activists from the "Rete romana contro la guerra", we organized flash mobs in downtown Rome. Wandering about like tourists, at a signal we took off our coats to show T-shirts condemning militarism. For example, the Italian government has just begun to follow the U.S. practice of bringing the military into schools to indoctrinate and recruit; so our first T-shirt says on the back: "No ai corsi paramilitari nelle scuole! Alleniamoci per la pace!” No to military training in schools; let them offer training for PEACE!"
