Delegations to Gaza

22 Days to Break the Silence
22 Days to End the Siege

CodePink, the U.S. peace group, is organizing two delegations to Gaza from 28 May to June 14.

The focus of the trip will be to break the siege of Gaza and, in particular, to bring a little joy to the lives of the children of Gaza, who make up over half the population. Toys and school supplies, which are almost completely non-existent due to the siege, will be delivered as will material with which the delegations plans to build three playgrounds.

This trip is coming on the heels of a very successful 60-person delegation last March that delivered 1,000 pink baskets to the women of Gaza. The one thing the people there asked for was for more delegations to come to bear witness to the conditions in Gaza due to the siege and the devastation wrought by the recent attacks.

Aside from the two CodePink delegations, additional delegations will be traveling from the US during the same period, including a group of New Yorkers and a student group, as well as a Canadian delegation. And the Free Gaza movement is organizing the Hope Fleet, a flotilla of passenger and cargo ships arriving in Gaza at the end of May.

This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a something special, to show your support to the people of Gaza, and to bring back home firsthand experiences you can share with others to make a difference.

Below are some basic details on logistics. Please refer to the CodePink web site for more detailed information and to sign up. If you do plan to travel from Rome, please let us know so we can put you in touch with others going: info@peaceandjustice.it

And if you can’t make the trip, you can still contribute by helping to pay for the toys and school supplies that will be delivered.

Note: though CodePink is a women's group, men are encouraged to participate!

Logistics
The first of the two delegations will meet in Cairo on May 28, travel to Gaza on May 29. They will return to Cairo on June 4 and fly back home on June 5. Most people will be flying from the U.S. but others will be joining up from countries around the world. Contact: gaza.codepink@gmail.com

The second delegation is primarily, though not exclusively, Jewish and will attempt to enter through Israel, from June 5-14. This is being organized in collaboration with the Israeli Coalition of Women for Peace. Contact: israel.codepink@gmail.com

Activities for both delegations include meeting UN program staff, humanitarian and development agencies, teachers, students, health workers and political analysts, in addition to visiting areas devastated by Israeli attacks.

Both are being organized as a package deal, meaning you pay a flat fee of 600 USD (approx 450 Euro), which will cover transportation, lodging and most meals once you arrive in Cairo.

See the CodePink web site for more details on exactly what is covered.

Upshot of our Nov. 9th group discussion on current politics:

It wasn't the Russians that got us Trump. Or Comey. Or even the massive GOP election fraud. It was the DNC.*

Iraq Deaths Estimator
Did someone tell you that U.S. military intervention in Iraq was over? Not true: we're at it again. This time the pretext to drop bombs is "curbing ISIS" (which was created by the U.S. in the first place, to overturn al-Malaki in Iraq and then Assad in Syria, and is now out of hand. Like what happened to "our" creature al Qaeda in Afghanistan). And the death toll continues to rise...
Write your senators and tell them: "Enough! U.S. out!! Iraq has shown it can curb ISIS by itself!"
