4th of July

Many groups in the U.S. are proposing an alternative to the usual fireworks and hotdogs on July 4th: both the Apollo Alliance and Freedom from Oil are promoting a Declaration of Energy Independence; UFPJ and the Center for Constitutional Rights honor true values by calling for Guantànamo to be shut down; Codepink calls for celebrations in the spirit of independence, with justice and liberty for all; and excerpts from Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" are read on a special edition of Democracy Now!

Iraq Exit Strategy
Keep up the pressure for an exit strategy for Iraq. Urge your senator to support resolution 171 by filling out the form on the Act For Change web site and contact members of the Armed Services Committee. In the House, ask your representative to support the Homeward Bound Act.

Click here to sign a petition, to put an end to the sanctions against Syria - their only effect is to take a terrible toll on the population, causing them to migrate! And click here to see the video by the Italian Committee to lift sanctions against Syria.

Iraq Deaths Estimator
Did someone tell you that U.S. military intervention in Iraq was over? Not true: we're at it again. This time the pretext to drop bombs is "curbing ISIS" (which was created by the U.S. in the first place, to overturn al-Malaki in Iraq and then Assad in Syria, and is now out of hand. Like what happened to "our" creature al Qaeda in Afghanistan). And the death toll continues to rise...
Write your senators and tell them: "Enough! U.S. out!! Iraq has shown it can curb ISIS by itself!"
