May 7 - This Is My Land (2009) Hebron, the spearhead of the Israeli right-wing settler movement, was the first Jewish settlement in the occupied West Bank and is the only city in Palestine where the settlements are in the city center. 600 settlers live, protected by more than 2,000 soldiers, in the middle of an Arab population of 160,000. These Jewish orthodox settlers, most of whom have immigrated to Israel over the last 30 years from Europe or the U.S., interpret the Bible as giving them the right to evict, subjugate and mistreat the local Arab population. This film interviews the settlers, their Palestinian neighbors, and Israelis who oppose the settler movement.

May 14 - Fragments (2008) From 26 December to 3 January 2008, 45 people from Italian civil society visited Palestine and Israel on a solidarity trip organized by Luisa Morgantini, Vice President of European Parliament, and Associazione per la pace. Based on this extraordinary experience, the film goes beyond the stereotypes, giving voice to those Israelis and Palestinians who, day after day, refuse the logic of "the enemy." The film tells the story of, and gives thanks to, those who, despite decades of conflict and violence, continue to be FRAGMENTS OF HOPE.

Directed by: Claudio and Francesca Cutarelli

May 21 - This Palestinian Life (2009) A film about people who persevere despite the odds stacked against them. The film documents specifically the aspects of perseverance or steadfastness of the Palestinian nonviolent struggle against Israeli occupation and the deliberate, ongoing, illegal annexation of Palestinian land.

An Arabic term used for everyday acts of nonviolent resistance is sumoud – steadfastness, perseverance. In the film, Egyptian activist and filmmaker, Philip Rizk, tells the stories of Palestinian villagers who attempt to remain steadfast, to persevere, in the face of settler violence, the injustice and duplicity of the Israeli government, and the ambivalence of the international community.

Director Philip Rizk will join us via Skype from Cairo to present the film and answer questions afterwards

May 28 - It Is Not a Gun (2007) "Ramzi Abu Redwan is a Palestinian who spent his entire childhood in the Al-Amari refugee camp in Ramallah. In 1998, he went to France to study music. He established the Al Kamandjati (‘the violinist’) Association four years later, with the aim of creating a music school for the children of Palestine. Since 2003, Ramzi has invited musicians from around the world each summer to visit the music center.

The centerpiece of 'It Is Not a Gun' is music; taking us far away from the images we usually associate with this part of the world. The Al Kamandjati association aspires to substitute violence with music. The film offers images of life rather than those of violence. While the conflict has its inevitable consequences on both the children and the association, it is not the subject of the film but what provides its surroundings. The music, oriental and classical, forms part of the musicians' journey, and follows the winding and unpredictable roads of this ravaged, conflict-torn area."

Directed by: Pierre-Nicolas Durand and Helena Cotinier
Run time: 67 minutes

It wasn't the Russians that got us Trump. Or Comey. Or even the massive GOP election fraud. It was the DNC.*

Iraq Deaths Estimator
Did someone tell you that U.S. military intervention in Iraq was over? Not true: we're at it again. This time the pretext to drop bombs is "curbing ISIS" (which was created by the U.S. in the first place, to overturn al-Malaki in Iraq and then Assad in Syria, and is now out of hand. Like what happened to "our" creature al Qaeda in Afghanistan). And the death toll continues to rise...
Write your senators and tell them: "Enough! U.S. out!! Iraq has shown it can curb ISIS by itself!"
